A Man Arrested in India for Using Forged Credit Card Offer

There are more and more people who use credit card offers all over the world! In some countries credit card market is developed (like in the United States or in Great Britain), in others, for example in Malaysia or India, credit card companies only start providing the customers with new credit card offers.

But here is a paradox - the market is not developed yet, but scammers have already found the ways to steal the credit cards from their owners and to use it in their advantage. What is even more surprising is that scammers have already found a way to create forged credit cards!

According to the police of New Delhi, a Malasian national was arrested on Sunday evening, trying to make a purchase in M Block Market in Greater Kailash with a fake credit card.

The police said that Tseng Tak Weik, who is 37 years old, came to New Delhi in order to purchase the watch worse Rs 88,000 ( which is about $2,216) using the forget credit card of HSBC bank. Luckily, the banking machine did not accept the credit card as it was put on alert by the bank.

The store owner was very attentive and immediately called the police. The police arrived to the store in 10 minutes and arrested Tseng Tak Weik. To their surprise they found not only a Malasian passport in his pocket but also 5 more forged credit card issued by HSBC bank, Standard Charted Bank and CitiBank!

The investigation showed that this Malaysian citizen came to India on November, 22 and he already made several purchases with this credit card. For example, he purchased footwear worse Rs 11,000 (which is about $228) using the same HSBC credit card.

According to the police department of New Delhi, Tseng Tak Weik worked in Kuala Lumpur's burger shop as a sales boy, but his greed and desire to earn fast money brought him to India. He eventually became a member of the gang that uses fake credit card offers that are cloned in Malaysia. The police have already contacted the banks and credit card companies for further details.

Similar cases already took place in New Delhi. On April 13, 2007 the South district police arrested two Malaysian citizens, who were using 20 cloned credit cards! Now the police is trying to find links between these two cases.

Today credit card companies, banks, retailers and credit card owners suffer greatly from the credit card fraud. As you can see all these people join forces to fight scammers, it is very important to be attentive in order to escape credit card fraud.

As we all well know, the problem of credit card fraud exists not only in India or Malaysia. In many countries, where the credit card market is well developed, the problem stands even sharper. There is no doubt, that today credit card scammers become more and more inventive, that is the main reason why people join forces to punish them!
