Optimism Will Help You to Use Credit Card Offers Correctly
12:00:00 AM Friday, December 07, 2007
Can you call yourself an optimist? Did you know that there is a connection between optimism and your financial condition? If you are pretty optimistic, then your finances are probably in order. If you feel over the moon, then you are probably carrying a balance on your credit card.
The professor of Duke University revealed the truth about the link between credit card offers and optimism! He proved his ideas by many studies and poles. The results of these studies were simply amazing! Your way of thinking really influences your financial condition!
It is a well known fact that optimists live longer and happier than pessimists. Finance professors Manju Puri and David T. Robinson calculated optimism by counting the difference between person's self-reported and statistical life expectancies, which is based on age, gender, smoking and drinking habits, education, race attitudes towards risk and more. You can call yourself an optimist if you expect to live more than the data tells you will.
According to the study, optimists believe in future economic improvement. Optimists work harder and think they will retire late. They also usually work overtime and are more likely to save money. Generally, optimists are more responsible with finances.
According to the survey, optimists make the best of credit card deals and are more responsible in credit card use. They are more likely to pay balance in full at the end of each month! Optimists usually feel positive about credit cards. They think that plastics are very comfortable and help them to purchase goods and services!
I am an optimist myself, that's why I strongly believe that credit cards were created to help me! I borrow some money and it is my obligation to pay back! I have much trust in credit card companies and have never had problem with them!
But there is a difference between an optimist and an extreme optimist. The study revealed that extreme optimists work and save less and usually carry balances on their credit cards! It is unbelievable but more than 60% of extreme optimists have bad credit history and over 20% are facing bankruptcy!
They are usually less responsible that optimistic credit card users as they truly believe that everything is going to be O.K. no matter if they make any efforts or not! Most of extreme optimists skip monthly credit card payments as they think it is not a big deal at all and will not cause any troubles.
I can really call my friend Robin an extreme optimist. He used credit cards all the time, but didn't bother to make payments. Today his credit history is badly damaged and his interest rates are simply sky high! Only now Robin began to realize that he was making mistakes and that owing a credit card is a big responsibility!
As you can see positive thinking and credit card offers are related. Thinking positively will not only make you happier, but will also help you to avoid financial problems with your credit cards. The only thing you really have to take into consideration is that optimism is like red wine: if you drink a little bit every day, it will be great for you, but if you abuse it, it will lead to serious problems.
Enjoy your credit cards and be an optimist!
