Are There Credit Card Offers for High School Students?

Many parents are concerned about financial future of their children. Most teenagers get their first jobs while they are in high school and it is a perfect time for their parents to teach them the basics of money management. It is very important to prepare your child for the real life in college. But are there credit card offers for high school students?

Yes, some credit card companies issue credit cards for high school students, but not all parents appreciate it. Do you think it is important for your kid to be financially educated from an early age? Plastics for high school children can help you!

A few years ago it was impossible for a child to get a credit card and nobody even thought about it! But we live in the century of best credit cards and credit card companies offer many plastics for teenagers that can help them to learn the basics of financial responsibility.

Most of these cards feature digital "allowances" and parental control. So your child may use the card, but you will always be able to control the situation before it's too late!

First of all teach your children about the importance of good credit history. Many adults are trying to rebuild bad credit history and keep up with monthly payments, so it's never too early to teach children to use plastic cards responsibly!

There are many student credit cards on the market today, but an average freshmen college student carries over $1,500 in credit card debt. Once college students realize that they can get what they want, they start to abuse their credit cards! But if the teenager enters the world of adults with good management skills, it will be much easier for him or for her to escape financial problems.

If you don't want your child to establish credit history at this time, you can look for prepaid debit card issued by Visa or MasterCard. These cards will help your child to understand the basics of money management, as the cards come up with annual and transaction fees, so it will be easy for your child to understand that using plastic isn't the same as paying with cash.

You can also make your child an authorized user of your credit card or get a new card with a low limit and make your child a cardholder.

There are some situations when you child may need to have some emergency money. For example, the car of your child broke down or your kid has to make a long distance phone call - in all these situations credit cards in your child's wallet will help!

If you decide that you are ready to teach your teenager the basics of credit, make sure you make some research. Remember that you shouldn't expect your child to know what to do with credit cards on his or her own; you are the one, who has to help!

But among the 3% of recipients completing and returning the application, only some 1.5% if not less actually get approved. Why is that and what are you required of to qualify for that enticing card offer sent by a major bank?

Most people think if they've been pre approved, there will be no hassle going through the formality of the application process. Now they don't have to spend hours searching and comparing products online to find the only right variant. Hardly anyone knows how the bank chooses a potential customer and what eligibility requirements it will use to finally approve or reject your application.
